Description

You will serve as a mechanical resource for Plant Engineering to improve existing fiber optic cable manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design tooling and mechanical assemblies using Inventor or AutoCAD.
• Develop experimental plans to validate designs and debug production integration issues.
• Assemble or oversee system assembly, performing hands-on work.
• Manage part procurement, obtain quotes, and order components from machine shops and vendors.
• Collaborate with IT, process, and electrical engineering teams to meet design requirements.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical system design and integration.
• Proficiency in generating or modifying mechanical models and drawings using Inventor, Vault, and AutoCAD.
• Strong knowledge of drafting standards, including GD&T.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting pneumatic controls, flow control, and water cooling systems.
• Experience with manufacturing equipment repair and maintenance.
• Experience managing mechanics and electricians for equipment assembly and installation.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or comparable experience.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with plastic extrusion manufacturing.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, including low/medium voltage, motion control, PLCs, and temperature control.
