Description

You will own the mechanical capability and performance of cable and ribbon assembly equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Own mechanical capability metrics including OEE, Cp/Cpk, uptime, scrap, and yield.
  • Design and optimize tooling, fixaturing, guides, rollers, payoff systems, and tension control mechanisms.
  • Perform root cause analysis for mechanical and process issues to implement corrective actions.
  • Define mechanical requirements and performance specifications for new equipment and work with OEMs on design and acceptance.
  • Develop 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for equipment upgrades and custom tooling.
  • Support FAT/SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, and line acceptance criteria.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in cable manufacturing or cable assembly equipment engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with ribboning, stranding, extrusion, shielding, jacketing, or armoring equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools including SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using JMP, Excel, or Minitab.
  • Experience performing equipment capability analysis and production line optimization.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical systems in continuous manufacturing environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ribbon cable manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of tension control systems, dancer mechanisms, capsstans, and servo driven equipment.
  • Familiarity with SPC, Cp/Cpk analysis, and OEE.
  • Working knowledge of PLC controlled machinery and electro-mechanical interfaces.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
