Description

You will own the mechanical capability and performance of cable and ribbon assembly equipment, ensuring stability and throughput in continuous manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, modify, and optimize tooling, fixturing, guides, rollers, and tension control mechanisms.
  • Establish and maintain equipment capability metrics including OEE, Cp/Cpk, uptime, scrap, and yield.
  • Lead mechanical capability studies, line balancing, and throughput optimization efforts.
  • Perform structured root cause analysis for mechanical and process issues, implementing corrective actions.
  • Define mechanical requirements for new equipment and review vendor drawings for compliance.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 5–6+ years of experience in cable manufacturing or cable assembly equipment engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools: SolidWorks, Creo, or AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in data analysis: JMP, Excel, or Minitab.
  • Hands-on experience with ribboning, stranding, extrusion, shielding, jacketing, or armoring equipment.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical systems in continuous manufacturing environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with ribbon cable manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of tension control systems, dancer mechanisms, capstans, and servo-driven equipment.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), Cp/Cpk analysis, and OEE.
