Description

You will design and build experimental setups and engineering prototypes within cross-functional teams including optical, electrical, and firmware disciplines.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design complex components and assemblies using CAD modeling.
• Own the full prototype loop including design, fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Build and maintain large-scale lab setups and form factor prototypes.
• Integrate custom printed and flexible circuit boards into prototype systems.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while working with limited inputs and ambiguity.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of professional mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency in mechanical CAD, Machining, 3D Printing, and Laser Cutting.
• Experience with prototype manufacturing processes such as milling and turning.
• Ability to construct and maintain complex CAD models for optical and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with standard optical components including lenses, mirrors, mounts, stages, and cameras.
• Knowledge of major suppliers such as Thorlabs, Edmund Optics, Newport, McMaster, and Digikey.
• Familiarity with lab equipment and processes, specifically lasers.

Preferred Skills

• SolidWorks mechanical CAD experience.
• FEA experience.
