Micro Focus COBOL Developer

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications using Micro Focus COBOL
• Design, code, test, and debug COBOL programs based on business requirements
• Work with ISAM file systems for data storage, retrieval, and optimization
• Build and maintain automation workflows using Python and R
• Analyze business processes and identify automation opportunities
• Integrate RPA solutions with APIs, databases, and third-party systems
• Perform data extraction, transformation, and analysis using Python/R
• Develop reusable automation components and frameworks
• Troubleshoot application issues in production and non-production environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (BA, QA, Infra)
• Participate in code reviews and ensure best practices
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Support system integration and external interfacing
• Work in Agile/Scrum environments
• Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to junior developers

Required Skills:

• 8+ years of experience in Micro Focus COBOL development
• Strong expertise in COBOL programming (procedural & structured)
• 8+ years of experience in Unix/Linux environments
• 5+ years of experience with RPA tools
• Proficiency in Python programming
• Experience with R programming for automation and data analysis
• Strong knowledge of ISAM file handling and file-based systems
• Experience in debugging, performance tuning, and production support
• Understanding of system integration and interfacing techniques
• Familiarity with version control and SDLC processes
