Description

You will perform microbiological examinations and analyses to identify bacteria and yeast within the Antimicrobial Resistance Lab Network.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Perform culture, biochemical tests, PCR, and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) on clinical specimens to isolate and identify pathogens.
• Document all quality control and quality assurance activities in compliance with CLIA regulations.
• Develop and research new testing procedures to solve public health laboratory problems.
• Analyze, evaluate, and prepare detailed laboratory reports and technical documentation.
• Cross-train in molecular, microbiological, viral, and serological techniques to provide laboratory backup capacity.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in microbiology or related scientific sub-specialties.
• Proficiency in PCR, Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS), and biochemical testing.
• Demonstrated ability to meet CLIA personnel certification requirements for technologists.
• Deep understanding of laboratory safety practices regarding chemical and biohazard materials.
• Experience with QA/QC protocols and proficiency testing programs.
• Ability to use standard technical equipment and complex automated analytical apparatus.
• Strong technical writing skills for compiling and analyzing laboratory data.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing public health laboratories.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with specific pathogens including E.coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii, and Candida auris.
