Description

You will coordinate and perform microbiological examinations to isolate and identify bacteria and yeast within the Antimicrobial Resistance Lab Network.

Responsibilities

• Conduct examinations of clinical specimens using culture, biochemical tests, PCR, and WGWS for the identification of microorganisms like E.coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Candida auris.
• Perform nucleic acid extraction from specimens and isolates using manual and automated methods.
• Execute molecular techniques including PCR, sequencing, MALDI-TOF, and WGWS.
• Maintain strict adherence to CLIA regulations through documentation of quality control, quality assurance, and instrument calibrations.
• Manage laboratory records, specimen handling, and inventory to ensure testing continuity.
• Evaluate and validate laboratory results while preparing epidemiological or statistical reports.

Required Skills

• 2+ years of experience in a laboratory environment.
• Proficiency in PCR and sequencing techniques.
• Experience with MALDI-TOF and WGWS.
• Knowledge of microbiological and molecular biology laboratory assays.
• Ability to perform high-complexity testing following strict specimen handling and reporting procedures.
• Competency in documenting quality control activities and maintaining proficiency testing records.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent graduate level education.
