Description

You will design, develop, and maintain Micro Focus COBOL batch and online applications, translating business requirements into technical solutions. Your work involves debugging production issues, optimizing SQL queries for MS SQL Server and Oracle, and managing job schedules via CA Workload Automation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Micro Focus COBOL applications, handling file I/O for flat files, indexed, and VSAM equivalents.
• Create and maintain Windows batch and PowerShell scripts to automate job execution and system processes.
• Write, optimize, and debug complex SQL queries and stored procedures across MS SQL Server and Oracle databases.
• Manage job scheduling and automation using CA Workload Automation (WLA).
• Participate in code reviews, adhere to coding standards, and coordinate with QA and operations teams for releases.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience with Micro Focus COBOL (Enterprise Developer/Server).
• Strong proficiency in MS SQL Server and Oracle Database administration and query optimization.
• Hands-on experience writing Windows batch scripts and PowerShell for automation.
• Practical knowledge of CA Workload Automation (WLA).
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git/SVN) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience using Visual Studio or Eclipse with Micro Focus IDE.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with legacy system migration or modernization projects.
• Background in financial or enterprise batch processing environments.
