Description

You will administer Microsoft SQL Server instances (2016+) across on-premises, VM, and Azure environments, owning the full database lifecycle from installation to disaster recovery.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances, ensuring high availability via Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and Failover Clustering.
• Design and test backup/restore strategies, validating RPO/RTO adherence and executing business continuity plans.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks using wait stats, query plans, and native monitoring tools (DMVs, Extended Events).
• Implement DevOps CI/CD pipelines for database changes using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, DACPAC, or Flyway.
• Manage security, compliance, and licensing, including RBAC, encryption, and vulnerability remediation.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of hands-on DBA experience with Microsoft SQL Server in production.
• Deep expertise in T-SQL, indexing strategies, query plan analysis, and wait statistics.
• Proficiency in HA/DR technologies: Always On, Log Shipping, Replication, Failover Clusters.
• Experience with automation scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL jobs) for operational efficiency.
• Proven track record of incident management, root cause analysis, and on-call support.
• Strong documentation skills for runbooks, architecture diagrams, and standards.
• Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI.
• Familiarity with Docker and containerization.

Preferred Skills

• Administration and performance tuning of PostgreSQL (VACUUM/ANALYZE, EXPLAIN, pg_stat_*).
• Cloud experience with Azure SQL (Managed Instance, Elastic Pools) or AWS RDS.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and observability tools (Prometheus, Dynatrace).
