Description

Lead the architecture, migration, and administration of MySQL workloads within Azure environments.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Migrate on-premise MySQL workloads and single-server instances to Azure Database for MySQL flexible servers.
• Manage MySQL clusters on Azure VMs and provision single and flexible Azure database servers.
• Design and implement backup, recovery, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
• Execute database performance tuning by configuring InnoDB, sort, join, and read buffers.
• Handle day-to-day administration, including patching, upgrades from 5.X, and capacity management.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in MySQL database administration and architecture.
• Proven experience migrating workloads to Azure Database for MySQL.
• Expertise in MySQL installation and configuration on Unix platforms.
• Proficiency with utilities such as mysqldump, mysql, mysqlimport, and mysqldumpslow.
• Strong knowledge of UNIX and shell scripting.
• Hands-on experience with replication, logical modeling, and physical modeling.
• Deep understanding of SQL performance tuning and query optimization.
• Experience applying Oracle Critical Patch Updates (CPU) for MySQL.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with clients and internal teams to resolve complex database issues.
