Description

You own the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable MySQL database systems in a cloud environment.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain database reference architectures, including cloud-based solutions and physical storage structures.
• Implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies using replication, multi-AZ configurations, and automated failover.
• Optimize performance by tuning InnoDB, analyzing query bottlenecks, and managing server resources.
• Automate version upgrades, security patches, and routine health checks using Ansible or shell scripting.
• Manage security standards, role-based access, and encryption for data at rest and in transit.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of professional experience with MySQL, including deep knowledge of InnoDB/MyISAM, sharding, and replication.
• Strong scripting proficiency in Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and monitoring.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform services.
• Proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes for containerized application deployment and environment management.
• Strong experience managing MySQL on Linux/Unix environments, including kernel tuning.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and DevOps practices.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with caching technologies like Redis or Memcached.
• Familiarity with distributed tracing, audit logging, and capacity planning tools.
