Description

Manage performance, availability, and security of RDBMS and NoSQL databases across development and production environments.

Manage AWS RDS databases, orchestrating upgrades, backups, and instance cluster provisioning. Support application development teams by managing schemas, users, indexes, and procedures. Tune database parameters and SQL queries to improve performance and ensure maximum uptime. Execute ETL data transfers between OLTP and OLAP systems and manage data migrations. Plan and monitor multiple database-related projects from high-level specifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain AWS RDS databases, orchestrating upgrades, backups, and instance cluster provisioning.
• Support application development teams by managing schemas, users, indexes, and procedures.
• Tune database parameters and SQL queries to improve performance and ensure maximum uptime.
• Execute ETL data transfers between OLTP and OLAP systems and manage data migrations.
• Plan and monitor multiple database-related projects from high-level specifications.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Expertise in MySQL and MongoDB management, including recent versions.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services: RDS, DMS, S3, EC2, and VPC.
• Proficiency in RDBMS/NoSQL tasks: backup, partial restore, data recovery, upgrades, and data partitioning.
• Strong ability to write and optimize SQL statements.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, Dynamo, Snowflake, and Aurora clusters.
• Experience with Gitlab, Flyway, and Jira.
• Solid understanding of database modeling and design concepts.
• Ability to work between EST and PST time zones on a rotation basis.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Terraform, Opsgenie, SignalFx, or Cloudwatch.
• Knowledge of Data Warehouse, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and ETL processes.
