Description

You will perform logical assessments and audits of network documentation, updating tools based on physical audit reports. You own the validation of device identity, including hostnames, management IPs, and alignment with physical labels. You capture interface and connectivity details such as link status, speed, duplex, MAC/IP addresses, and VLAN associations. You correlate logical data with physical network findings to identify discrepancies like incorrect labeling or missing interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform secure, read-only logins to network tools to audit documents and update records.
• Validate logical device identity and connectivity indicators using ping, traceroute, and neighbor discovery.
• Populate and validate discovery templates with accurate logical data, cross-checking against physical audit reports.
• Support post-move validation by confirming power-on status, interface enumeration, and connectivity consistency.
• Follow all customer security, credential handling, and audit logging policies while maintaining documentation accuracy.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in network consulting or data center operations.
• Hands-on expertise with data center physical layer, racking, stacking, and hardware maintenance.
• Strong understanding of network interfaces, link behavior, VLANs, and basic L2/L3 concepts.
• Proficiency in interpreting status and “show” commands to extract audit values.
• Familiarity with vendor equipment including Cisco, Juniper, and next-gen firewalls.
• Ability to safely perform read-only logins to network and data center management tools.
• Knowledge of fiber optics, out-of-band management interfaces, and cabling.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with MAC, IP, ARP, and neighbor discovery protocols.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in template-based documentation.
