You will design, implement, and maintain substation and field area networks to support SCADA communications and smart grid functions.
Responsibilities
Architect and engineer resilient communication solutions for transmission substation networks and field area networks.
Manage NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliance, including change control, configuration management, and password rotations for IT devices.
Support the migration of substation communications through legacy circuit replacements and related transition projects.
Provide 24/7 operational support and participate in an on-call rotation to troubleshoot hardware failures or performance degradation.
Coordinate with Cyber Security, Security Technologies, and Real Time Operations teams to ensure adherence to security policies.
Required Skills
5+ years of experience in network engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong knowledge of the OSI reference model.
Hands-on experience with network routing and switching using Cisco, Nokia, or Ruggedcom hardware.
Experience with network management applications such as HPOM, NNMi/NA, Nokia 5620 SAM, or Client Orbit Radio.
Proficiency in radio systems and RF engineering, including cellular, 700/900 MHz Radio, WiMax, and point-to-point/multipoint configurations.
Ability to use Visio or CAD for technical drafting and drawing.
Knowledge of encryption technologies used to secure substation networks.
Experience managing project scope, schedules, and budgets.
