Description

You will manage the generation, coordination, and execution of internal and carrier test plans to ensure interoperability of the product line within legacy networks.

Responsibilities

• Develop test plans for customer network architecture and interoperability to ensure equipment functionality and security.
• Prepare implementation plans and provide expert engineering support for Layer-0, Layer-1, and Layer-2 configurations.
• Perform hands-on lab work including manual installation of products, handling pluggables, and manipulating fiber optic patches.
• Provide Tier III/Tier IV remote assistance for customer troubleshooting, installation, and field deployment.
• Create technical documentation including network diagrams, signal flow diagrams, and detailed equipment specifications.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in telecommunications and networking.
• Strong knowledge of OTN, SONET, DWDM, ROADM, (n)OADM, and SDH architectures.
• Experience with Carrier Ethernet architecture, provisioning, and implementation.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting and technical writing.
• Familiarity with fiber optics, including ISP (patches/connectors) and OSP (fiber characterization and OTDR).
• Ability to read and follow network diagrams, cabling guides, and signal flow diagrams.
• Active Security Clearance.
• Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 (IAT Level II or higher) certification.
• Physical ability to lift up to 75lbs for equipment installation.

Preferred Skills

• Prior experience with the Ciena Product Family.
• Project+ or Scrum Master Certification.
