Description

You will perform hands-on hardware maintenance, circuit migrations, and physical network deployments in Chicago.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Execute break-fix tasks including device inspection, component re-seating, and modular hardware replacement.
  • Manage physical deployments through rack/stack/jack installation, cable management, and northbound cabling for fiber, copper, and power.
  • Perform circuit provisioning and testing by installing optics, SFPs, GBICs, and loop-back cables.
  • Conduct hardware troubleshooting, power cycling, and equipment inventory including serial number recording.
  • Support data eradication processes and tape backup cassette exchanges.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in a network administrator role.
  • Hands-on experience with networking, routing, and switching.
  • Proven ability to set up and configure server hardware.
  • Knowledge of best practices for managing, controlling, and monitoring server infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
  • Experience with CCNA, Network+, CCNP, CCDP, or CCIE certifications.
  • Ability to manage physical tasks such as racking/de-racking and cleaning fiber connectors.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience with firewall implementation and Internet VPN troubleshooting.
