Description

Provide Tier 1 support for optical network communications, monitoring, and troubleshooting within a 24/7 NOC environment.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and respond to optical network alarms, collecting data on Infinera transport network elements.
• Open trouble tickets, document system faults, and escalate issues to Tier 2 for resolution.
• Troubleshoot faults on in-service and out-of-service optical transport network elements.
• Open bridges during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities and follow MOPs to execute customer equipment maintenance procedures.

Required Skills

• 1-5 years of experience in network operations support.
• Experience with telecommunications, DWDM, and/or SONET optical networking equipment.
• Knowledge of optical network elements including Infinera, Cisco, Ciena, or ALU.
• Ability to use network monitoring tools such as Solarwinds and alarm browsers.
• Understanding of single mode and multi-mode fiber and various connector types.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite, specifically Word and Excel.
• Understanding of essential programming structures and data types.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills for documenting troubleshooting steps.
• Capacity to work shifts in a 24/7 environment.

Preferred Skills

• CCNA, CCENT, A+, or Network+ certifications.
• BS degree or Vocational Network Technician Training.
• Experience working with ISPs and Carriers.
