Description

Provide Tier 1 support for optical network communications, focusing on monitoring, diagnosis, and resolution of network alarms.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and respond to optical network alarms using Solarwinds and alarm browsers.
• Collect data on Infinera optical transport network elements and report status.
• Open trouble tickets, document system faults, and track troubleshooting steps through resolution.
• Open bridges during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
• Escalate complex issues to Tier 2 and coordinate with specialized support groups.

Required Skills

• 1-5 years of experience in network operations support.
• Experience with telecommunications, DWDM, and/or SONET optical networking equipment.
• Knowledge of optical transport systems, including single mode and multi-mode fiber and various connector types.
• Understanding of IP networking, routers, and switches.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite, specifically Word and Excel.
• Ability to follow MOPs and standard troubleshooting procedures for fault isolation and service restoration.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills for documenting technical issues.
• Ability to work 24/7 shifts in a technical NOC environment.
• Must be a US citizen, permanent resident, or hold an EAD.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Infinera, Cisco, Ciena, or ALU optical network elements.
• Experience working with ISPs and Carriers.
• CCNA, CCENT, A+, or Network+ certifications.
