Description

You will lead mission-critical character set transformation and upgrade initiatives across Oracle and MySQL databases.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Perform Oracle database upgrades with a focus on NLs character set conversion to AL32UTF8.
• Execute end-to-end MySQL database upgrades and manage character set handling.
• Assess database schemas, dependencies, and the impact of character set changes.
• Create and validate backup and recovery plans prior to upgrade execution.
• Design test environments to validate character set impact and performance.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA.
• Minimum 3 years of MySQL administration experience.
• Proven expertise in Oracle NLs character set upgrades, specifically to AL32UTF8.
• Experience using DMU (Database Migration Assistant for Unicode) or manual upgrade paths.
• Proficiency with RMAN, performance tuning, and database patching.
• Strong understanding of Unicode, collation, and character encoding.
• Scripting skills in Shell, Perl, or Python.

Preferred Skills

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
• Experience with Data Pump, GoldenGate, or multi-region deployments.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud environments.
