Position Overview
We are seeking a highly seasoned Oracle Database Performance Tuning Expert to join our global enterprise engineering group. In this mission-critical role, you will be the definitive technical authority responsible for the proactive optimization, diagnostics, and remediation of complex, high-volume transactional (OLTP) and analytical (Data Warehouse) Oracle environments. You will ensure that our core enterprise banking and digital experience platforms operate with ultra-low latency, maximum throughput, and flawless architectural resilience. Acting as a strategic pillar for both 'Run the Bank' (RTB) and engineering teams, you will tackle the most demanding database bottlenecks, complex PL/SQL rewrites, and infrastructure scaling challenges.

Key Responsibilities
• Advanced Query & Code Optimization: Analyze, profile, and systematically refactor complex SQL statements, high-volume PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, and triggers. Diagnose and resolve execution plan regressions using Advanced Execution Plans, SQL Profiles, SQL Plan Baselines, and SQL Patches.
• Deep Diagnostics & Root Cause Analysis: Lead proactive and reactive diagnostics using Automatic Workload Repository (AWR), Active Session History (ASH), Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor (ADDM), and SQL Trace/TKPROF. Troubleshoot deep-seated locking contentions, latch contention, enqueues, and multi-node RAC interconnect bottlenecks.
• Database & Instance Tuning: Optimize Oracle instance memory structures (SGA, PGA, Buffer Cache, Shared Pool) and initialization parameters to match intensive application workloads. Design and refine physical schema models, including advanced partitioning strategies, composite indexing, and materialized views.

• Infrastructure & Architecture Alignment: Collaborate closely with infrastructure teams to optimize underlying storage I/O subsystems, Exadata storage cell operations, and operating system kernels. Validate and align database performance during major version migrations, platform cutovers, and hardware refreshes.
• Capacity Planning & Proactive Monitoring: Architect, implement, and leverage enterprise monitoring frameworks (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control, AppDynamics, Splunk Grafana) to build predictive performance dashboards and early-warning alerting systems.
• Disaster Recovery & Scale Validation: Provide domain expertise during Mock Disaster Recovery (DR) drills, performance stress-testing, and volumetric simulations to guarantee infrastructure scalability and absolute transactional data integrity under failure modes.
• Technical Governance & Mentorship: Establish comprehensive corporate database coding guidelines, performance review checklists, and architectural patterns. Conduct technical peer reviews for engineering pods and mentor junior database administrators and software developers.
 

Technical Skills & Qualifications
• Core Database Expertise: Deep, architectural mastery of Oracle Database versions 19c and 21c/23c, including Real Application Clusters (RAC), Active Data Guard, Multitenant (CDB/PDB) architecture, and Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
• Tuning Specialization: Exceptional fluency in interpreting AWR, ASH, ADDM, and TKPROF reports. Expert-level knowledge of the Oracle Cost-Based Optimizer (CBO), execution plans, hints, and advanced SQL tuning features.
• Platform Engineering: Hands-on experience engineering and optimizing performance on Oracle Exadata Database Machines, including Smart Scans, Storage Indexes, and Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC).
• Programming & Automation: Expertise in complex PL/SQL engineering and shell scripting (Bash, Python, or Perl) to automate tuning diagnostics, baseline captures, and operational maintenance tasks.
• Observability Ecosystem: Strong working proficiency with enterprise monitoring, log aggregation, and APM tools such as OEM Cloud Control, Splunk, AppDynamics, and Grafana.
• Operating System & Storage: Solid understanding of Linux/Unix operating system internals (kernel parameters, huge pages, CPU scheduling) and SAN/NAS storage array capabilities (I/O latencies, IOPS, throughput boundaries).
 

Education & Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
• A minimum of 10-12+ years of dedicated experience as an Oracle Database Administrator or Performance Engineer, with at least 5+ years specializing strictly in enterprise-grade performance tuning.
• Proven track record supporting high-volume global transaction platforms (e.g., Corporate Banking, Digital Payments, Core Financial Systems) with zero-downtime SLAs.
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM) designations are highly desirable.
• Prior experience working within Agile/Pod-based organizational structures alongside cross-functional engineering teams is a significant asset
