Key Responsibilities

Performance Testing & Engineering

• Design and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests for ArcGIS Pro-based environments.

• Establish platform performance baselines with only ArcGIS Pro installed and configured.

• Measure and analyze system responsiveness during key GIS user workflows including:

o Map opening and rendering

o Zoom In / Zoom Out operations

o Panning across large datasets

o Feature editing and saving

o Layer refresh and redraw

o Attribute queries and searches

o Geoprocessing execution

o Spatial analysis operations

o Data synchronization and retrieval

• Define performance benchmarks and acceptance criteria for GIS operations.

• Develop test scenarios simulating concurrent user workloads and realistic GIS usage patterns.

Tool Development & Automation

• Create and maintain performance test scripts using:

o LoadRunner Enterprise (LRE)

o Apache JMete

• Automate execution, monitoring, and reporting of performance tests.

• Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines where applicable.

• Build reusable frameworks and performance testing assets. Monitoring & Analysis

• Monitor client-side and server-side performance metrics during test execution.

• Analyze:

o Response times

o Resource utilization (CPU, Memory, Disk, Network)

o Rendering performance o Transaction throughput o System scalability

• Identify bottlenecks related to:

 o ArcGIS Pro processing

o Network latency

o Data layers and services

o Infrastructure constraints

o Client workstation performance

Reporting & Collaboration

• Produce detailed performance assessment reports and dashboards.

• Present findings, trends, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.

• Collaborate with GIS engineers, infrastructure teams, developers, and architects to resolve performance issues.

• Participate in root cause analysis and performance tuning activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, GIS, Engineering, or related field.

• 5+ years of experience in Performance Testing and Engineering.

• Hands-on experience with:

o LoadRunner Enterprise (LRE)

o Apache JMeter

• Strong understanding of performance testing methodologies:

o Load Testing

o Stress Testing

o Soak/Endurance Testing

o Scalability Testing

o Baseline Testing

• Experience analyzing system performance using monitoring and profiling tools.

• Strong understanding of Windows-based environments and enterprise infrastructure.

• Experience creating test plans, workload models, and performance reports.

• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, or other Esri technologies. • Understanding of GIS concepts including: o Spatial data o Feature layers o Map services o Geodatabases o Geoprocessing workflows • Experience using monitoring tools such as: o Dynatrace o AppDynamics o Splunk o Grafana o Prometheus • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Java. • Experience working in AWS cloud-hosted GIS environments.
