Key Responsibilities 

- PHP Application Development and Modernization 

- Strong professional experience with PHP application development and maintenance. 

- Experience upgrading legacy PHP applications to currently supported PHP versions. 

- Ability to identify deprecated functions, incompatible language features, and outdated dependencies. 

- Experience refactoring legacy code while preserving existing business functionality. 

- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, exception handling, and application design principles. 

Symfony Framework Migration 

- Professional experience developing and maintaining applications using the Symfony framework. 

- Demonstrated experience upgrading legacy Symfony applications, preferably from Symfony 2.x or 3.x to a modern Symfony version. 

- Understanding of Symfony's architecture, including controllers, services, dependency injection, routing, configuration, event listeners, and the service container. 

- Experience replacing deprecated or removed Symfony components and bundles. 

- Ability to assess migration complexity, identify breaking changes, and develop a practical migration strategy. 

- Experience working with Composer and resolving PHP package and dependency compatibility issues. 

Database Integration 

- Experience integrating PHP/Symfony applications with relational databases. 

- Strong SQL skills and experience troubleshooting database queries and application-level data access. 

- Experience with Doctrine ORM and DBAL, including legacy implementations. 

- Ability to preserve existing database behavior and validate data integrity during application modernization. 

- Experience troubleshooting database connectivity, driver compatibility, transactions, and query performance. 

Legacy Application Troubleshooting 

- Ability to analyze an existing application with limited or outdated documentation. 

- Experience tracing application workflows across controllers, services, database interactions, and external dependencies. 

- Ability to identify hidden dependencies, undocumented business rules, and compatibility risks. 

- Experience troubleshooting authentication, authorization, sessions, routing, file permissions, logging, and error handling. 

- Ability to work within an established production application without introducing unnecessary changes to existing functionality. 

Functional and Regression Testing 

- Experience developing and executing functional and regression tests during application migrations. 

- Ability to establish a baseline of existing application behavior before making changes. 

- Experience validating that migrated functionality produces equivalent results to the legacy application. 

- Ability to investigate, document, and resolve migration-related defects. 

- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as PHPUnit and practical manual testing where automated coverage is limited. 

- Ability to validate database results, reporting workflows, and integrations. 

Application Deployment and Environment Management 

- Experience deploying PHP applications to Linux environments. 

- Familiarity with web servers such as Apache or Nginx. 

- Experience troubleshooting PHP runtime configuration, extensions, permissions, environment variables, and application logs. 

- Experience with Docker or other container technologies. 

- Familiarity with Composer-based build and deployment processes. 

- Understanding of environment-specific configuration and application deployment practices.  

Required Experience & Qualifications 

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). 

- Symfony 2.x to Modern Symfony version. 

- Php 5.x to PHP 8.x migrations. 

- Doctrine ORM and DBal. 

-Legacy JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap. 

- Oracle database integration. 

-Linux and Docker. 

- Automated regression testing. 

- Enterprise application modernization 

- Healthcare or laboratory applications
