Description

You will design and review aerial telecommunications projects, focusing on distribution pole lines, FTTX, FTTC, and MDU designs.

Responsibilities

• Perform pole loading calculations using SpidaCalc and QuickPole.
• Create permit drawings using AutoCAD.
• Conduct research by interpreting field data, land base maps, civil blueprints, survey documents, and field sketches.
• Compare map and drawing data against network facility records and geographical resources to complete pole line designs for FTTH, BAU, and relocation projects.
• Inspect aerial communications lines and poles.

Required Skills

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license in Ontario.
• 5+ years of experience in telecommunications or related engineering fields.
• Proficiency with QuickPole, SpidaCalc, and PLS CAD.
• Experience with CSA 22.3 No. 1-20 Overhead Systems and O.Reg. 22/04 guidelines.
• Background in aerial communications line and pole inspections.
• Experience with distribution pole line, FTTX, FTTC, and long-haul/interoffice fiber MDU designs.
• Competency in AutoCAD for permit drawing creation.
• Knowledge of Aerials, Cable Management, Civil Engineering, and Fiber Optic Cable.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of Fiber backbone (F1), distribution networks (F2), and 5G/Smart City high-level designs.
• Familiarity with permitting processes for highways, railroads, cities, and counties.
