Description

Own the administration, performance tuning, and high-availability operations of multi-terabyte PostgreSQL databases in a mission-critical environment.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations, including troubleshooting performance issues like load average, locks, blocking, and long-running SQLs.
• Execute database upgrades for minor and major versions, and implement backup and restore strategies.
• Configure and maintain database replication and point-in-time recovery using tools like Repmgr, pgpool, or EFM.
• Deploy and manage PostgreSQL instances on AWS (RDS or EC2) and GCP, leveraging Kubernetes or containerization technologies.
• Optimize database performance using common configuration parameters and system tables.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL.
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, maintenance tasks, and system tables.
• Proven experience managing multi-terabyte databases with high transaction volumes.
• Proficiency in database replication, high-availability setups, and point-in-time recovery.
• Experience with cloud deployments on AWS (RDS/EC2) and GCP.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or other containerization technologies.
• Strong ability to independently learn new technologies and work effectively across technical teams.

Preferred Skills

• Background in building large database infrastructure supporting high-volume, mission-critical workloads.
• Exceptional communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
