Description

Focus on daily hands-on development and administration of Postgres environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop automation scripts and utilities using Ansible or Python.
• Manage database deployments, including high availability, replication, and cluster management.
• Execute backup, restoration, and rolling upgrade techniques.
• Implement security mechanisms, health monitoring, and alerting.
• Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting for database systems.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in database or Unix system administration.
• Proficiency with the Unix command line.
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or Python.
• Solid understanding of DBMS concepts including ACID, CAP, and consistency.
• Experience with cloud infrastructures including AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Ability to write code or scripts for test harnesses and database utilities.
• Knowledge of virtualization and containerization including VMWare, OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Docker.
• Familiarity with modern storage and compute technologies like hyper-converged infrastructures.
• Experience with distributed databases such as Google Spanner, Cassandra, Postgres, or Oracle.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Yugabyte deployments and internals.
• Bachelor's degree.
