Description

You will own the design, optimization, and maintenance of PostgreSQL database infrastructure while developing backend services in Ruby.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Design, refactor, and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, tables, and complex joins.
• Analyze and improve query performance and indexing strategies.
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient data access and storage.
• Implement best practices for database security, backup, and recovery.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in development and production.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in database engineering or administration.
• Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including table refactoring and query optimization.
• Basic experience with Ruby programming and integrating it with databases.
• Solid understanding of relational database principles and data modeling.
• Experience with AWS RDS.
• Experience with Azure Database.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with database monitoring tools and performance dashboards.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
