Description

Manage PostgreSQL database infrastructure across development and production lifecycles within an AWS environment.

You will own the release pipeline, schema conversions, and migration from on-premise DB2 or Oracle systems to PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and build database systems from initial business requirements to production deployment.
• Develop logical and physical database designs, including schemas and data specifications.
• Manage database schema conversions and data migration from legacy systems.
• Support release, configuration, and change management activities alongside development teams.
• Provide mentorship to mid and junior level staff and participate in scheduled after-hours on-call support.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with database infrastructure on Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Extensive experience installing PostgreSQL on both on-premise and cloud environments.
• Proven ability to write and test Linux or Bash scripts for backups, startup, and shutdown procedures.
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining database schemas.
• 3+ years of database administration experience covering analysis, maintenance, and reporting.
• Ability to convert DB2 or Oracle database structures to PostgreSQL.
• Must be legally able to obtain work in the US and obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Skills

• Experience managing PostgreSQL on AWS RDS and AWS EC2.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, Python development, and Ansible deployment.
• Prior SSA experience.
