Description

Lead PostgreSQL database capability across GCP and hybrid environments, combining hands-on technical leadership with people management.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Manage 24x7 production operations, including incident leadership, problem management, and root cause analysis.
• Deliver high availability and disaster recovery solutions for PostgreSQL with tested failover and backup validation.
• Drive automation and standardisation using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and repeatable build patterns.
• Partner with engineering, SRE, security, and architecture teams to deliver secure, resilient database services.
• Provide people management, including hiring, coaching, objective setting, and performance management.

Required Skills

• 10+ years in database engineering or administration.
• 5+ years managing PostgreSQL in production at scale.
• 3+ years in a lead role with people management responsibilities.
• Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Cloud SQL.
• Proven track record in performance tuning and schema design.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines.
• Proven ownership of high availability and disaster recovery strategies.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Compute Engine hosted PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of containerised patterns on GKE.
