Description

You will design, implement, and manage enterprise-level Power BI reporting solutions, focusing on secure data access and reliable refresh orchestration.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Row-Level Security (RLS) models using static and dynamic DAX expressions to control data access.
• Troubleshoot Power BI Gateway connectivity, refresh failures, and credential management issues.
• Define and enforce security roles at the dataset, workspace, and app levels.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to optimize data models for performance and security.
• Monitor gateway health, refresh schedules, and capacity utilization.

Required Skills

• 10+ years hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Gateway.
• Strong expertise in DAX for complex calculations and security logic.
• Deep understanding of data refresh mechanisms including scheduled, incremental, and dataflows.
• Proficiency in Power Query (M) and data modeling (star schema, relationships).
• Knowledge of Azure Active Directory, security groups, and their integration with Power BI RLS.
• Familiarity with SQL Server, Azure SQL, and other common enterprise data sources.
• Understanding of Power BI REST APIs for automation of dataset and gateway management.

Preferred Skills

• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300).
• Experience with Power BI Embedded and app-owns-data RLS scenarios.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for Power BI (ALM Toolkit, Power BI Deployment Pipelines).
