Description

You will develop and modernize existing PowerBuilder client-server applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance existing PowerBuilder client-server applications.
• Assess legacy PowerBuilder codebases to identify dependencies, integration points, and cloud readiness issues.
• Work with cloud engineering to migrate PowerBuilder applications from on-prem to Azure, including database migration to Azure SQL or SQL Managed Instance.
• Design, maintain, and optimize SQL databases, rewriting queries and stored procedures for cloud performance.
• Conduct root cause analysis for cloud-specific issues like connectivity and performance degradation post-migration.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of strong PowerBuilder development experience (versions 10–12.6 or Appeon PB preferred).
• Advanced SQL programming skills (T SQL, PL/SQL) with deep database design and optimization ability.
• Experience with SQL Server and familiarity with Azure SQL services.
• Proven experience supporting lift and shift migrations from on-prem to Azure.
• Familiarity with Azure SQL Database / Managed Instances, Azure VMs, and Azure Storage.
• Understanding of client-server architectures and cloud transition patterns.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities related to legacy system behavior.
• Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with APIs and Microservices integration.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of dependency mapping and identifying cloud blockers in legacy applications.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines or DevOps practices related to migrations.
