Description

Lead the end-to-end architecture of the Edge AI and IoT platform, defining reference designs, component boundaries, and integration contracts across edge, on-premises, and cloud tiers. Drive the adoption of open standards (MQTT, VSS, OPC-UA, ONVIF) and NVIDIA ecosystem tooling (CUDA, TensorRT, Jetson, NGC) while establishing architecture decision records and mitigating systemic technical risks.

Responsibilities

  • Own the platform architecture, defining data flows and integration contracts for real-time IoT telemetry and sensor fusion.
  • Lead the design for NIST SP 800-171 compliance and zero-trust security principles, collaborating with legal teams on system security plans.
  • Serve as the primary technical mentor for globally distributed teams, running architecture reviews and enforcing engineering standards for Kubernetes and CI/CD.
  • Act as the senior technical point of contact for US public sector clients, translating mission requirements into platform capabilities for RFP responses.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to latency, bandwidth, model drift, and security boundaries before they impact production.

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in a principal architect or staff engineer role.
  • Deep expertise with the NVIDIA ecosystem: CUDA development, TensorRT optimization, Jetson hardware, and Triton Inference Server.
  • Proficiency in containerized, cloud-native architectures using Kubernetes, Helm, service mesh, and GitOps.
  • Strong knowledge of MQTT broker architecture, QoS, and at least one complementary streaming technology like Kafka or AMQP.
  • Practical experience implementing NIST SP 800-171 controls and translating them into concrete engineering requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with modern observability stacks including OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Solid understanding of Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS) or comparable hierarchical signal data modeling standards.
  • Ability to produce crisp architecture diagrams and documents for both engineering peers and non-technical government stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with CMMC Level 2/3 assessments or FedRAMP authorization processes.
  • Familiarity with additional edge protocols such as OPC-UA, DDS, Matter, LoRaWAN, or TSN.

Education

Bachelor's degree
