Description

You will lead the design, analysis, integration, and testing of advanced imaging systems, including telescopes, spectrometers, high-energy lasers, and LADARs.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Lead opto-mechanical alignments and assist with optical design tasks like modeling, simulation, and tolerancing.
• Assemble optical and laser diagnostic test equipment, troubleshoot assemblies, and support product demonstrations.
• Manage small to moderately sized projects by planning, scheduling, and communicating progress.
• Lead small technical teams, delegate work, and review outputs.
• Interface with suppliers and leverage knowledge of optics and laser vendor capabilities.

Required Skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of optics, lasers, electromagnetic propagation, and laser/optical materials.
• Proficiency with optical alignment techniques and alignment tooling.
• Experience with optical component inspection, cleaning, and bonding.
• Experience with data reduction and analysis, including error analysis.
• Understanding of systems engineering processes and principles.

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science with 8+ years of related experience, or equivalent advanced degree.
