You will lead the design, analysis, integration, and testing of advanced imaging telescopes, spectrometers, high energy lasers, LADARs, and special test equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform critical opto-mechanical alignments and assist with optical design tasks including modeling, simulation, and tolerancing.
- Assemble optical and laser diagnostic test equipment.
- Test and troubleshoot laser and optical assemblies.
- Support product tests and demonstrations.
- Manage small to moderately sized projects by planning, scheduling tasks, and communicating progress to stakeholders.
- Lead small technical teams, delegate work, and review team member outputs.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of optics, lasers, electromagnetic propagation, and laser/optical materials and effects.
- Proficiency with optical alignment techniques and alignment tooling.
- Experience with optical component inspection, cleaning, and bonding.
- Experience with data reduction and analysis, including error analysis.
- Understanding of optics and lasers vendor capabilities and supplier interfacing.
- Familiarity with systems engineering processes and principles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science with 8 or more years of related experience, or equivalent advanced degree requirements.
