Principal Software Architect

Lead technical strategy and drive enterprise-wide alignment for complex initiatives. You will define standards, build reference implementations, and actively contribute to hands-on POCs and prototypes, dedicating 40-60% of your time to coding. Embed with engineering teams to remove blockers, ensure critical designs reach production, and scale new platform capabilities through controlled rollouts and training. Maintain enterprise knowledge bases and collaborate across time zones and with third-party teams to resolve technology challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy and develop reference implementations, tooling, and abstractions.
• Contribute to hands-on POCs and prototypes, spending 40-60% of time on active development.
• Embed with teams to guide complex initiatives, remove blockers, and ensure production readiness.
• Define policies and best practices that balance risk management with value generation.
• Scale and drive adoption of new platform capabilities through pilots and training plans.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of proven experience in a core business-critical technology or software architecture.
• Expert-level proficiency in the MS technology stack: C#, .NET, SQL, and Azure.
• Deep expertise in at least one domain: cloud platforms, microservices, data/streaming, or AI/ML.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools: ARM, Bicep, and Terraform.
• Knowledge of Azure services, specifically AKS and managed services.
• Familiarity with SOX, SOC2, and GLBA compliance standards.
• Experience in mortgage or financial services is strongly preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Multi-cloud experience beyond Azure.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
