Description

You will oversee contractor operations for the maintenance and operation of revenue and non-revenue rail vehicles and maintenance facilities in Austin, TX.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering, procurement, and maintenance contracts for rail vehicle systems, including propulsion, braking, HVAC, and train control.
• Oversee the commissioning of new rail vehicles and the rehabilitation of existing systems and subsystems.
• Direct preventive maintenance programs, including cost analysis, policy development, and specification preparation.
• Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies including the FRA, FTA, and TXDOT.
• Ensure all vehicle systems are designed, installed, and tested in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Required Skills

• 7 years of management experience in rail vehicle or locomotive maintenance.
• 5 years of experience directing staff in passenger rail vehicle maintenance operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Transportation, or a related field (relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis).
• Technical knowledge of rail vehicle systems and subsystems.
• Ability to troubleshoot rail vehicle systems and subsystems.
• Proficiency in project management techniques.
• Strong analytical, creative, and communication skills for interacting with regulatory authorities and senior management.
• Working knowledge of TXDOT, FRA, and FTA regulations.
