Description

Own the full development lifecycle for mainframe-based applications, from requirements analysis and design to testing and documentation.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Analyze system requests and develop specifications for new or existing mainframe applications.
• Design and implement program changes using IBM Assembler, COBOL, and related tools.
• Prepare and execute unit and integration test plans in collaboration with clients and IT personnel.
• Analyze technical problems, document findings, and propose resolution alternatives.
• Lead smaller projects, mentor junior analysts, and maintain system development documentation.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in mainframe system development and support.
• Deep mastery of IBM Assembler Language (mandatory).
• Proficiency in COBOL, Easytrieve, CICS, VSAM, and VSE/DOS.
• Expertise with VSE tools including SyncSort, IDCAMS, CECI, CEDF, and FTP.
• 5+ years of experience managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Working knowledge of Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills

• Client/server technology skills, including SQL and MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio).
• Experience in the insurance industry (Life, Health, Annuity).
