Manage a high-visibility portfolio of IT projects and programs for the State of Michigan, ensuring alignment with budgets, timelines, and scope.
Responsibilities
- Direct the DTMB Investment Management process, including the Call for Projects and governance documentation.
- Perform long-term release planning and execute project quality control activities to meet scope expectations.
- Coordinate the end-to-end capture of project artifacts, including business cases, charters, schedules, and change requests.
- Develop and manage portfolio metrics and reports using the State's PPM tool for executive review.
- Identify and escalate risks and issues to senior management and the PMO with comprehensive remediation recommendations.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of recent experience managing IT projects or programs, preferably in a government environment.
- Documented success managing IT projects with budgets exceeding $3,000,000 and timelines longer than 3 years.
- Proven experience managing complex programs or portfolios involving multiple stakeholders, vendors, and data conversions.
- PMP certification from the Project Management Institute.
- Expertise in the State of Michigan's SUITE methodology or similar industry standards.
- Proficiency with MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
- Experience using Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of CMMI, COBIT, or ITIL frameworks.
- Experience managing projects involving both in-house resources and multiple external vendors.
