Work closely with project team members and consultants. Provide coordination, guidance and oversight to ensure that high-quality permit applications are filed, paid, tracked and approved in a timely manner to reduce delays and reputational harm
Coordinate the collection of information necessary for these applications and assist with data collection for and the preparation of any assessments, reviews, or reports
Build a trusted and collaborative relationship with agency staff, that is in line with company expectations and standards, and serve as a principal point of contact
Schedule and attend periodic meetings with agency staff to identify emerging issues and develop strategies to track issues until final resolution
Track incoming issues raised by permitting agencies
Troubleshoot high-value permits when approvals are delayed or need to be expedited
Attend internal meetings to understand scope of the project portfolio
Complete all other activities, including facilitating the timely payment of permitting fees, ensuring requirements of permit conditions are met to ensure timely and efficient completion of the permit and receipt of completion by state agency
Stay current on changes at the state and district level and communicate updates to internal stakeholders
Ensure approved permits are saved in a repository for easy access across users
Explore opportunities to develop permitting efficiencies
Knowledge & Experience Required:
Knowledge of agency permitting processes, particularly at the Massachusetts Departments of Transportation and Conservation and Recreation, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, and/or regional rail agencies
Technical ability to understand construction plans, detect work zones and identify infrastructure
Familiarity with road trenching and paving practices
Project management skills and demonstrated history of delivering assigned tasks
History of building strong business relationships and consensus across stakeholders
Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills, and the ability to write reports and develop presentations for internal and external senior leaders
Good organizational skills and an ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; knowledge of Maximo or other work management software preferred
Valid driver s license with a safe driving history
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor s degree
5 years of experience, preferably in environmental regulation, permitting, construction, government, business, project management or related field
Direct experience working with electric utilities and other energy industry stakeholders; an understanding of the utility regulatory environment, preferred
Demonstrated track record of building relationships with cross-functional teams in ambiguous or uncertain environments
Bachelor's degree
