Description

You will modernize and refactor a Python codebase supporting a full-stack geoencoding system.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Refactor existing Python scripts to improve modularity, readability, and adherence to PEP 8 standards.
• Transition data processing workflows from flat files and Esri file geodatabases to an ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabase on SQL Server.
• Maintain integrations with ArcGIS Server REST-based services and the Google Maps Geocoding API, including quota management and API key security.
• Implement robust logging, error handling, and data validation across the codebase.
• Produce technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, code comments, and workflow instructions.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience writing clean, modular Python code for data processing and automation.
• Advanced proficiency with Python libraries including pandas, os, shutil, logging, arcpy, pyodbc, and requests.
• Hands-on experience using ArcPy for spatial joins, geoprocessing, and field calculations.
• Strong SQL Server skills, specifically querying and updating tabular data within ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabases.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs, specifically Google’s Geocoding API.
• Knowledge of API security protocols such as OAuth2, API keys, or JWT.
• Proficiency with Git for version control and collaboration.
• Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Skills

• Experience modernizing or rewriting legacy Python codebases.
• Familiarity with geocoding accuracy scoring and fallback strategies.
• Prior experience working with GIS teams or government agencies.
