Description

We’re looking for a Quality Engineering Tech Lead (Architect-level) with deep hands-on experience in Retail POS systems to drive innovation in test automation and quality enablement at Kroger.
If you love solving complex hardware/software testing challenges, building virtualization frameworks, and enabling CI/CD-driven automation—this role is for you.
 

What You’ll Do
✔ Analyze POS architectures & remove hardware-dependent testing bottlenecks
✔ Build service virtualization, emulators, and mock frameworks for POS hardware
✔ Design scalable automation frameworks for CI/CD
✔ Develop custom tools & utilities where no out-of-the-box solutions exist
✔ Lead API-first, modular, shift-left testing strategies
✔ Mentor QE engineers & drive test architecture best practices
✔ Work with tools like Karate, Selenium, BDD, JMeter, etc.
 

Must Have
▪ 10+ years QE/Software Engineering
▪ 3+ years as Architect/Principal Engineer
▪ Strong experience with POS systems + retail hardware/software integration
▪ Expertise in service virtualization & hardware emulation
▪ Solid coding in Java / JavaScript / Python
▪ CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps)
▪ Experience with cloud-native test environments
 

 Nice to Have
• Retail/POS modernization project experience
• Edge computing knowledge
• Experience building custom test harnesses
• Contributions to QE CoE/communities
