Description

You will ensure product reliability through rigorous testing, failure analysis, and design feedback in Cupertino, CA.

Responsibilities

• Prepare concise test plans and detailed reports for mechanical stress, shock, drop, vibration, and environmental testing.
• Perform failure analysis using optical microscopy, X-ray, SEM/EDS, FTIR, and XPS to derive root causes.
• Apply DOE (Design of Experiments) and FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) to assess design risks.
• Analyze statistical data to provide risk assessments and propose design improvements for reliability.
• Develop new reliability test procedures and specifications while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Required Skills

• 3+ years of experience in reliability engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of industry test standards including JEDEC, ASTM, and IEEE.
• Proficiency with failure analysis tools: SEM/EDS, FTIR, XPS, and X-ray.
• Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies and fundamental failure analysis methodology.
• Ability to conduct tests and resolve problems in an unattended manner.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
• BS or MS in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

Preferred Skills

• Consumer electronics experience.
• Ability to research technologies to determine possible failure modes.
