Description

You will maintain and improve MathCAT, a security-sensitive library with multilanguage bindings. You will own the codebase, ensuring high standards for safety, accessibility, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Remove or redesign unsafe Rust code to improve memory safety and stability.
• Implement XML parsing strategies, choosing between DOM and streaming approaches based on requirements.
• Align development with the Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL) and secure coding practices.
• Collaborate in an open-source environment and produce clear technical documentation.
• Integrate accessibility features, ensuring compatibility with screen readers like NVDA, JAWS, and Narrator.

Required Skills

• Strong systems programming experience in Rust, specifically with ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, and unsafe boundaries.
• Proven track record of refactoring unsafe Rust code.
• Experience with multilanguage bindings (C++, Python, Java, WASM).
• Deep understanding of secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with accessibility technologies or MathML.
• Exposure to screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, Narrator).
• Strong written communication skills for design and technical documentation.
• 4-6 years of experience in relevant systems programming.
