Description

You will design and develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Java and Scala.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Build event-driven services and microservices using Apache Kafka for message production and consumption.
• Implement backend systems using Spring Boot, Akka HTTP, or Play frameworks.
• Ensure reliable Kafka integration through schema validation, error handling, and retries.
• Collaborate with frontend and platform teams to define API contracts and integration patterns.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance of services and API endpoints.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of programming experience with Scala (Akka, Play, or Cats/Scalaz) and Java (8+).
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, including producer/consumer APIs, Avro/Protobuf, and topic design.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Knowledge of functional programming, reactive patterns, and asynchronous programming.
• Proficiency with Spring Boot and dependency injection.
• Strong unit and integration testing practices.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and API security protocols like OAuth2 and JWT.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Kafka Streams, Akka Streams, Kafka Connect, or Schema Registry.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native development.
• Familiarity with API gateways such as Kong or Apigee, or service meshes like Istio.
