Description

Build and maintain scalable, event-driven backend services using functional programming principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize backend services using Scala and Java.
• Design purely functional, type-safe, and concurrent systems.
• Implement event-driven microservices using Kafka, Pulsar, or RabbitMQ.
• Build RESTful and gRPC-based services with API gateways and circuit breakers.
• Use profiling and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK to optimize performance.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in Scala and functional programming paradigms.
• Hands-on experience with Cats, Cats Effect, and functional libraries like FS2, ZIO, or Doobie.
• Solid experience with Java 8 and 17, including Streams and CompletableFuture.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Micronaut, or Quarkus.
• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with asynchronous and reactive programming.
• Strong testing skills using ScalaTest, MUnit, JUnit, or TestContainers.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with ZIO, GraphQL, or gRPC.
• Open-source contributions or technical writing regarding functional programming.
