Description

You will design, build, and operate a high-performance Apache Cassandra platform supporting real-time payment and fraud detection systems.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Cassandra clusters, keyspace architectures, replication strategies, and partitioning models.
• Optimize read/write performance through consistency levels, compaction strategies, and JVM tuning.
• Manage cluster administration including node scaling, repairs, backups, upgrades, and disaster recovery.
• Monitor database health and performance using Prometheus, Grafana, or DataStax OpsCenter.
• Implement database security including encryption at rest, encryption in transit, authentication, and RBAC.

Required Skills

• 4–9 years of hands-on experience administering and engineering Apache Cassandra in production.
• Deep understanding of Cassandra internals: SSTables, Memtables, Commit Log, Gossip Protocol, Tombstones, and Compaction.
• Strong expertise in Cassandra data modeling, keyspace design, and replication strategies.
• Proficient in CQL development and performance tuning.
• Experience with JVM tuning and Linux administration.
• Scripting skills in Bash and/or Python.
• Ability to work within Agile delivery environments in regulated financial services.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with NICE Actimize, IBM MQ, or Apache Kafka.
• Knowledge of AWS Keyspaces, Azure Managed Instance for Apache Cassandra, or DataStax Enterprise.
