Description

Drive system modernization by upgrading Java applications and ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Migrate Java applications across multiple major versions, identifying and resolving compatibility issues.
• Update and manage build pipelines to support newer Java versions using build tools.
• Implement and maintain automated health checks and manage operational runbooks.
• Resolve production issues, including performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities.
• Document all migration processes, technical decisions, and identified technical debt.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of professional development experience.
• Expertise in Java, Object-Oriented Programming, and software development methodologies.
• Proficiency with build tools such as Maven.
• Strong knowledge of Spring, Spring MVC, and ORM technologies like Hibernate/JPA.
• Experience with modern frontend technologies: JavaScript, jQuery, Knockout.js, HTML, and CSS.
• Familiarity with RESTful web services, JSON parsing, and multipart/form-data.
• Knowledge of security remediation for CSRF, SQL injection, XSS, and reflection attacks.
• Experience with Git for version control and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitLab).
• Understanding of JVM tuning and garbage collection optimization.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Docker or Kubernetes for containerization.
• Familiarity with application servers like Tomcat or WebSphere.
