Description

You will design, build, and mentor the development of scalable backend API services and microservices, leading a team of three junior engineers.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design backend service specifications and data models using established architectural standards and design patterns.
• Develop and maintain backend API services using Kotlin, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
• Write optimized SQL queries (DML) and DDL scripts for database interactions.
• Instrument code with DataDog for observability and ensure high code quality, scalability, and performance.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and participate in Agile ceremonies (standups, grooming, retrospectives).

Required Skills

• 8–15 years of backend development experience focusing on APIs and microservices.
• Hands-on experience with Kotlin and Spring Boot.
• Sound working knowledge of Kafka for service integration.
• Experience creating conceptual, logical, and physical data models using tools like Lucid or Visio.
• Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
• Experience managing and mentoring a team of junior software engineers.
• Experience working within an Agile Scrum team setup.

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Experience with DataDog observability platform.
