Description

You will develop OpenBMC firmware releases for customer reference boards and contribute code back to the OpenBMC community.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Develop OpenBMC firmware in coordination with architects, BIOS developers, and vendors.
• Upstream code and features to the OpenBMC community.
• Troubleshoot existing designs and debug firmware defects.
• Apply software methodologies and manageability design expertise to ensure on-schedule deliveries.
• Work with hardware reference boards to validate firmware functionality.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of firmware development experience.
• 3+ years of experience in manageability firmware.
• Mandatory experience with BMC firmware development (e.g., Dell iDRAC, Dell CMC, or HP iLO).
• Proficiency in C, C++, Python, JavaScript, and Shell scripting.
• Experience with OpenBMC software stacks and server manageability architecture.
• Knowledge of low-level protocols including I2C, I3C, JTAG, SPI, eSPI, UART, and PCIe.
• Working knowledge of Linux kernel programming and Linux driver development (JTAG, I2C, SPI).
• Experience with Git and Gerrit code review tools.
• Proficiency with Linux gcc build and debug tools.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of Redfish, PLDM, MCTP, and IPMI protocols.
• Understanding of security concepts like Root of Trust, verified boot, and measured boot.
• Experience with x86 or Arm architecture and reading digital schematics.
