Job Summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer (AWS/FinOps) on behalf of our client in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, FinOps, automation, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud cost optimization. This role will focus on building scalable cloud solutions, improving cost efficiency, and supporting secure and reliable cloud operations.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, maintain, and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure and automation pipelines.

Manage AWS cloud costs using Cost Explorer, Budgets, Savings Plans, and Reserved Instances.

Develop and maintain AWS Cost and Usage Report (CUR) pipelines using S3, Glue, and Athena.

Design and govern AWS tagging strategies for resource management and cost allocation.

Automate tagging enforcement and remediation using AWS Organizations, Config, and Lambda.

Develop automation and cost-optimization solutions using Python, boto3, AWS CLI, Terraform, and Bash.

Apply FinOps practices across the Inform, Optimize, and Operate lifecycle.

Build and support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation.

Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis.

Collaborate with engineering, finance, and product teams on cloud cost reporting, forecasting, and optimization.

Ensure cloud solutions meet security, compliance, and operational standards.

Maintain technical documentation and contribute to cloud engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications

6+ years of experience in cloud engineering or related IT solution delivery.

Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud technologies and infrastructure management.

Solid understanding of FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization.

Experience with AWS Cost Explorer, Budgets, Savings Plans, and Reserved Instances.

Strong knowledge of AWS tagging, governance, and automated enforcement.

Experience developing AWS CUR pipelines using S3, Glue, and Athena.

Proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.

Strong scripting and automation skills with Python, boto3, AWS CLI, and Bash.

Experience with CI/CD, SDLC, and DevOps practices.

Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Cloudability or similar cloud financial management platforms.

Background in cloud cost reporting, allocation, optimization, and forecasting.

Familiarity with AWS Config, GuardDuty, and Inspector.

Experience with Docker and containerized environments.

Experience with cloud migrations.

Knowledge of cloud security and operational best practices.
