Description

You will design and develop logical and physical data models for cloud databases, including migrating legacy iSeries (AS/400) structures.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Analyze iSeries data structures and create detailed mapping documents for migration.
• Define data standards, normalization rules, and naming conventions aligned with cloud best practices.
• Translate business rules into data models in collaboration with Business Analysts.
• Partner with cloud architects to ensure models align with GCP/Azure architecture, including networking and security.
• Support ETL teams in data transformation and migration using tools like Azure Data Factory or Google Dataflow.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of experience in data modeling, database design, and migration projects.
• Strong hands-on experience with relational databases such as Azure SQL Database, Cloud SQL, and BigQuery.
• Proficiency with data modeling tools including Erwin and ER/Studio.
• Hands-on experience with cloud migration strategies, data security, and cost optimization.
• Experience with ETL tools, including Azure Data Factory, Google Dataflow, or Informatica.
• Solid understanding of data governance, compliance, and cloud security principles.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience designing schemas optimized for performance using cloud-native features.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases like Cosmos DB or Firestore.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
